CNC Metal Forming for Controlled Manufacture

CNC metal forming uses programmed machinery to shape sheet and plate into practical, production-ready components.

Before manufacture, our team reviews the drawing, material, thickness, bend positions, angles and intended application. This helps identify a suitable forming sequence and ensures that downstream requirements such as welding, machining and assembly are considered from the beginning.

Components we form

  • Brackets and mounting plates
  • Panels, guards and covers
  • Trays, channels and formed sections
  • Housings and enclosures
  • Structural and support components
  • Fabrication-ready folded parts
  • Prototype and development components
  • Parts for welded assemblies

Applications we support

  • Aerospace manufacturing and maintenance

CNC Sheet Metal Bending Services

Sheet metal bending is a core part of our wider CNC forming service. It is used to create controlled angles, flanges, returns, channels and other formed features in prepared sheet and plate. Using CNC press brake technology, Bramley Aerospace supports one-off parts, prototypes, low-volume batches and repeat production requirements. Components can be supplied as formed parts or moved into welding, machining, finishing and assembly through our wider manufacturing facility.

Bystronic Xact Smart 225/4100 CNC
Press Brake

Our CNC forming service is supported by a Bystronic Xact Smart 225/4100 CNC press brake, providing 225 tonnes of pressing force across a working length of 4,100 mm. The CNC-controlled machine supports accurate bend positioning and repeatable forming across prototypes, one-off components, low-volume batches and repeat production requirements.

Controlled and Repeatable Forming

CNC control helps manage bend positions, angles and forming sequences consistently across individual parts and repeat batches. Our connected manufacturing approach also reduces unnecessary handovers, keeping cutting, forming, fabrication and finishing closely aligned throughout production.

Why Choose Bramley Aerospace for CNC Forming?

Our CNC forming services combine practical engineering input with wider in-house manufacturing, helping customers move from prepared material to finished components and assemblies through a controlled production route.

Design and manufacture connected

Drawing review and practical engineering input help ensure the forming process supports the finished component, assembly and intended application.

Support for bespoke requirements

We regularly work on prototypes, one-off parts and specialist equipment where the production route requires careful planning and engineering judgement.

Controlled and repeatable production

CNC programming helps maintain consistent bend positions, angles and forming sequences across individual components and repeat batches.

Wider in-house manufacturing

Cutting, forming, machining, fabrication, fitting, finishing and testing can be coordinated through one experienced engineering team.

The CNC Forming Process

Our CNC forming process is planned around the component drawing, material, bend requirements and intended application. Each stage is reviewed to create a practical forming route and keep parts ready for any machining, welding, finishing or assembly that follows.

01

Requirement review

We review the drawing, material, dimensions, bend positions, tolerances and quantities.

02

Material preparation

Sheet or plate is cut and prepared using an appropriate profiling or cutting process.
03

Programming and set-up

The forming sequence, tooling and machine settings are prepared around the component requirements.

04

Forming and inspection

Each component is formed and checked against the agreed production information.
05

Further manufacture

Parts can move into machining, welding, fabrication, finishing or assembly where required.

Discuss Your CNC Forming Requirements

Share your drawings, CAD files or project information with our team. We will review the material, dimensions, bend requirements, quantities and downstream processes before recommending a practical route into manufacture.

Supporting Services

CNC forming is often one stage within a broader manufacturing route. Our in-house services allow formed components to move into machining, welding, fabrication, finishing and assembly with fewer supplier handovers and clearer production control.

CNC profile cutting

Sheet and plate can be laser cut or water jet cut before forming, helping create accurate blanks and component profiles.

CNC machining

Formed parts can move into CNC milling, turning or 5-axis machining where additional holes, interfaces or precision features are required.

Welding and fabrication

Formed components can be welded and fabricated into frames, structures, guards, jigs, cradles and bespoke assemblies.
