Bramley Aerospace is looking for an experienced Design Engineering Manager to join its growing team in Martock, Somerset. This is a hands-on role for a confident aerospace design engineer who can lead technical work, support production and liaise directly with customers.

KEY POINTS

Reporting to: Technical Authority / Directors

Location: Martock, Somerset (on-site, primary)

Commute: Within sensible commuting distance

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Hours: Monday to Friday, standard hours

Experience needed: Proven CATIA V5/V6 proficiency (essential) and working knowledge of SolidWorks, with experience designing components or assemblies.

Ideal candidate: A confident, practical engineer who can solve problems, support production and speak directly with customers and suppliers

THE ROLE

BPA is a precision aerospace subcontractor with an ambition to grow its design and engineering authority. This is a role for someone who can do the work — not just manage those who do it. You will be designing, modifying, and reviewing components and assemblies using CATIA V5/V6 as the primary tool, with SolidWorks as secondary. You will also be the face of BPA’s technical capability with clients, vendors, and our own production team.

The right candidate brings aerospace design experience, strong geometric modelling skills, and the confidence to sit across a table from a customer’s chief engineer and hold their own.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Produce and modify 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CATIA V5/V6 (primary) and SolidWorks (secondary).

Interpret customer requirements — including statements of work, interface control documents, and verbal briefs — and translate them into manufacturable designs.

Liaise directly with customer technical teams (Leonardo, GKN and others) on design intent, concessions, and approvals.

Work with manufacturing suppliers and vendors to ensure designs are producible and cost-effective.

Collaborate with the internal production team to ensure designs are understood, achievable, and correctly documented.

Manage drawing issue and configuration control within BPA’s document management system.

Support the Technical Authority on GKN Aerospace work packages and new product introduction.

Identify and manage design risks, raising concession requests or deviation notices where required.

Contribute to cost estimation and technical input for quotations and tender responses.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Proven proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 — this is the primary requirement. Candidates without CATIA experience will not be shortlisted.

Working knowledge of SolidWorks for secondary design tasks.

Degree or HND in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering (or demonstrably equivalent industry experience).

Experience designing components or assemblies for aerospace, defence, or other safety-critical industries, this is the primary role from day one.

A natural problem solver and creator of solutions.

Confident communicator — you will deal directly with customers and suppliers without a technical minder in the room.

Team development and growth is a must.

Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and aerospace material and process specifications.

Understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to precision-machined components (turning, milling, grinding, EDM).

Exposure to AS9100 quality management environments preferred.

Based within 30 minutes of Martock Trading Estate.

THE OPPORTUNITY

BPA has recently acquired the assets and business of SFM Technology and is building its engineering team under new ownership. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape the design function of a growing aerospace business with strong customer relationships and a serious long-term pipeline. The right person will grow with it.

HOW TO APPLY

Send a CV and brief covering note (no more than one page) stating which role you are applying for, your relevant experience, and why you are interested in BPA.

Applications should be sent to: emma@bramleyaerospace.co.uk

Please include the job title in the subject line of your email. Applications without a covering note will not be considered.

BPA is an equal opportunities employer. We are not using agencies for these roles. Speculative agency submissions will not be accepted.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can set and operate CNC milling or turning machines to produce high-quality aerospace components to tight tolerances.

KEY POINTS

Reporting to: Works Manager

Location: Martock, Somerset (on-site, full-time)

Commute: Within sensible commuting distance

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Hours: Monday to Friday, standard day shift (overtime as required)

Experience needed: CNC machining experience and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T notation.

Ideal candidate: A practical, detail-focused CNC Operative who can work accurately to drawings, maintain high standards and support a busy production team

THE ROLE

BPA operates a CNC machine shop producing high-precision aerospace components to tight tolerances and strict quality standards. We supply Leonardo Helicopters and GKN Aerospace — customers whose requirements leave no room for error.

We are looking for a skilled, experienced CNC operative who can set, operate, and if required programme CNC milling or turning machines to the standards our customers demand. Quality, consistency, and attention to detail are non-negotiable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Set up and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines (3-axis and above) to produce components from engineering drawings.

Work to tight tolerances and aerospace quality standards (AS9100 environment).

Carry out in-process inspection using standard metrology equipment (verniers, micrometers, CMM as appropriate).

Maintain accurate job card reporting.

Identify and report tooling wear, machine faults, and non-conformances promptly.

Contribute to 5S housekeeping and FOD (Foreign Object Damage) prevention.

Liaise with Works Manager and Quality on first-off approvals and concession requests.

Support programming and process improvement activities where capability exists.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Demonstrable experience setting and operating CNC milling or turning centres (Fanuc, Heidenhain, or equivalent).

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T notation.

Experience working in an aerospace, defence, or similarly regulated manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

Familiarity with in-process inspection and quality documentation.

Exposure to CAM programming (Mastercam, Edgecam or similar) is advantageous.

Reliable, time-served, and methodical. Shortcuts in aerospace get people hurt.

Based within 30 minutes of Martock Trading Estate.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

You will be working in a busy machine shop producing low-volume, high-precision components. The environment is professional, the standards are high, and the team is small. If you are used to high-volume repetitive production, this will be a step up in technical complexity.

HOW TO APPLY

Bramley Aerospace is looking for an experienced Engineering Office Manager to join its team in Martock, Somerset. This is a key operational role for a calm, organised and decisive person who can manage office processes, support Directors and keep information flowing across a busy aerospace environment.

KEY POINTS

Reporting to: Director

Direct reports: Accounts & Administration

Location: Martock, Somerset (on-site, full-time)

Commute: Within sensible commuting distance

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00

Experience needed: Office management or senior administration experience, ideally within manufacturing, engineering or another operational environment

Ideal candidate: A calm, organised and decisive office manager who can keep information flowing, chair meetings confidently and support Directors with accurate, proactive updates

THE ROLE

This is the operational heartbeat of BPA Martock. You will run the office, manage information flow, and ensure that our remote Directors are never surprised. That means proactive, accurate daily updates, a clean Monday morning production and ops meeting that you chair, and an instinctive ability to distinguish between what needs to be escalated immediately and what can wait.

You will line-manage our Accounts and Administration team, who handle day-to-day accounts administration and office support. Your role is to lead that function, not perform it.

BPA is post-acquisition and moving at pace. There is no room for people who freeze under pressure. We need someone calm, organised, and decisive; someone who creates order rather than adding to the noise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Chair the Monday morning Operations and Production meeting; circulate action log by close of play Monday.

Maintain a daily 16:00 written update to Directors covering production status, open issues, visitor activity, and any matters requiring decision.

Manage office administration: correspondence, filing, scheduling, purchase orders, and supply chain.

Act as first point of contact for visitors, calls, and routine external enquiries.

Support the Directors with HR administration: onboarding paperwork, absence records, training logs.

Coordinate with Finance (Xero) for invoice queries, purchase approvals, and petty cash management.

Maintain site compliance records: H&S inductions, contractor sign-in, equipment certification schedules.

Manage consumables and office supplies procurement within agreed budget limits.

Support Directors and senior managers with scheduling, travel, and ad hoc project administration.

Ensure information systems (M365, Teams, shared drives) are maintained and accessible.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Proven office management or senior administration experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or similarly operational environment.

Confidence chairing meetings with a mixed audience of technical and operational staff.

Strong written communication — your daily updates will be read by Directors who rely on them entirely.

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel). Familiarity with Xero desirable.

Calm under pressure. You are the person who stabilises the room, not escalates it.

Meticulous with detail — errors in your updates have real consequences.

Based within an easy commute of Martock Trading Estate.

HOW TO APPLY

Send a CV and brief covering note (no more than one page) stating which role you are applying for, your relevant experience, and why you are interested in BPA.
